If your child is facing challenges impacting their daily lives, I offer them the opportunity to develop their coping strategies, self-esteem, and gain insight into the person they are becoming. As a specialist in Integrative Child and Adolescent counselling and Psychotherapy, I use what we know about child development, attachment, and trauma to offer an integrative approach tailored to the needs of your child or young person.
The foundation of my practice is to foster a secure, trusting, and non-judgemental relationship. I will offer them a safe space to explore your child or young person’s emotions through talk, as well as play and creative approaches, which can be helpful when talking about difficulties is too challenging. I follow the client’s lead regarding areas of exploration, to facilitate them in achieving their therapeutic goals towards personal growth. I also offer a supportive presence to parents. I prioritise building robust relationships with parents and carers, seeking their input, offering guidance, and addressing their concerns.
I wholeheartedly believe that connecting with each client needs a warm and open-hearted approach to understand their unique experiences. This includes being acutely sensitive and adaptable to their values and individual needs, fostering an environment that is not only inclusive and equitable but also exudes warmth—a therapeutic space where every client feels genuinely heard, deeply understood, and fully respected.
I have professional experience of establishing therapeutic relationships with children across the age range and from diverse backgrounds. I have experience of working with children presenting with a range of challenges including:
- Adverse childhood experiences
- Anxiety
- Attachment challenges
- Bereavement and loss
- Depression
- Domestic violence
- Family separation and divorce
- Low self-esteem
- Neurodiversity
- Special needs
- Trauma
